BBZ Poker Community Awards – May 2023

The BBZ Poker Community Awards are designed to celebrate our students’ success stories and the best posts in our Discord.

We’ll be giving out three monthly awards: the Constant Crusher award, Like A Boss award, and the Best Mic Drop award.

Constant Crusher Award

The Constant Crusher Award is precisely what it sounds like: a big shout-out to the person who consistently puts up great results throughout the month.

May 2023’s winner?

NeverWinPots. Again.

Yep, we’re going to have to give this award to Matt, a.k.a. NeverWinPots, for the second month in a row.

The man continues to crush and put up an incredible performance throughout SCOOP 2023, making four final tables while also consistently recording big cashes in regularly scheduled events.

Go take a scroll through the BBZ Brags Discord and you’ll see why he’s now a two-time winner of this award.

Like A Boss Award

The Like A Boss Award goes to someone from the BBZ community who pulled off a particularly impressive feat across the month.

May 2023’s winner?

Juppe__.

BBZ coaches Alex “Pwndidi” Theologis, Tomi “elmerixx” Brouk and Jargo “bungakat” Alavali weren’t the only members of Team BBZ to win SCOOP titles this year.

BBZ student ‘Juppe’ — known as ‘juppenpuppen’ on PokerStars — took down a $109 NLHE event (#77-M) for $63,288, defeating a 4,440-entry field.

It doesn’t get much more Boss than that.

“Seems like joining BBZ was a good investment,” Juppe says.

We’d have to agree! Congratulations!

Best Mic Drop Award

The Best Mic Drop Award goes to BBZ community member who dropped the sexiest result into the BBZ Brags Discord channel.

May 2023’s winner?

lionhat.

This particular Brag post left us — and many in the BBZ community — speechless.

Just look at that first-place prize!

BBZ Poker student Leonardo Song-Carillo, known as ‘lionhat’ in our Discord, has been crushing for a while now. There were no doubts about his skills and work ethic.

But this result is something else.

Song-Carillo, a 32-year-old business owner from Vancouver, Canada, bested a field of 7,816 entries in the $215 buy-in tournament on ACR to win an eye-watering $185,014.

It’s an unbelievable score and one that deserves a massive congratulations.

It was only back in March 2023 that Song-Carillo told us he was a late bloomer when it came to getting poker results. He didn’t begin to take the game seriously until 2018 and joined BBZ Poker as a student in 2021.
