BBZ coach Wey Xie on his new Cash Game Bundle: “I hope it presents many Aha! moments”

Ever since we first introduced you to BBZ Poker’s cash game coach Wey “CRAIbaby” Xie back in May, he’s been hard at work in the lab putting together his Cash Game Bundle.

“I’m really excited about it coming out and I’m looking forward to seeing how it goes down with people,” Xie tells us on a call earlier this week.

“To be honest, there’s a lot more that goes into creating a bundle than one would think, including myself. Deciding what topics I wanted to cover, what the audience wants to see, then recording it all and finding the perfect structure, it took a long time but I’m glad I got it done.”

With so much information included, we wondered if Xie planned it all out on an enormous whiteboard with post-it notes scattered everywhere.

“You could say I did it that way, but it was all digital,” he says. “I planned out everything on the computer and had discussions with friends, editors, and with Jordan. I also talked with [fellow BBZ coach] Bertie “bigstealer” Bayley a lot too as he’s also producing a bundle and we wanted to make sure our separate bundles complement each other and don’t overlap. It was a fun process.

“I think the value of this bundle and other bundles on BBZ Poker is outrageous compared to the price point,” he continues. “Arguably the most important part of my bundle is the fundamentals and philosophy section, which I hope will be incredibly valuable to people.”

Xie admits he spent a lot of time structuring the fundamentals and philosophy section, in particular, to help people who feel overwhelmed at the sheer volume of poker training material available.

“When I first started playing poker, I struggled to find the right information as there’s an ocean of misinformation out there,” he says. “My hope is that this bundle will alleviate that issue for the people who purchase it.

“People think the word fundamentals means something basic, but it’s actually the foundation you need if you’re ever going to arrive at a deep understanding of this game. I hope to present this information in a way that’s easily comprehensible and digestible and leads to many aha moments.”

That’s the fundamentals covered, but what about the philosophy of poker? We ask Xie to summarise his own philosophy for the game.

“That’s a broad question,” he laughs. “It’s all in the bundle. But I will say this: I specifically state that there is a correct way to play this game. That’s a philosophical statement in itself.”

A statement like that could stir up some controversy among players who believe that everyone can play different styles and form their own opinions on the best way to play a hand.

“Yeah, I certainly make myself attackable by saying this so explicitly,” Xie continues. “But I’m so sure that there is a correct way to play this game. I wouldn’t even say that this is a matter of my opinion, there just is one.”

While Xie’s bundle for BBZ is targeted at cash game players, it’s also designed for players of all formats and variants. If you understand the basic foundation behind the game, you see it for what it actually is and everything that I teach you will be applicable in any kind of situation, including live games.”
