SCOOP title rundown for Team BBZ

SCOOP title rundown for Team BBZ

The PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) is almost among us.

No doubt one of the most prestigious series in poker, the SCOOP always brings out the best in the business, and often, brings out the best in the players, too.

The series runs from May 7-31, 2023, with 363 tournaments and $75M guaranteed across the board.

But which members of the BBZ Poker crew have won SCOOP titles?

Let’s take a look.

FINTAN “EASYWITHACES” HAND

Good old Finty has not one, not two, but three SCOOP titles. And incredibly, he’s won every year for three years on the trot. Here’s a look at those victories:

2020: $1,050 Afternoon Deep Stack – $73,653
2021: $5,200 NLHE PKO High Roller – $232,156
2022: $2,100 Sunday Warm-Up PKO – $119,046

His $5K win in 2021 was epic, for a variety of reasons.

Not only did Hand go on an insane bounty-collecting run while battling against some of the best online poker players on the planet, but when his winning moment came, his Twitch stream crashed due to an island-wide power cut on Malta, where he lived at the time.

Still, you can watch the vast majority of his run below.

It’s the ICM wizard’s only SCOOP title so far, but at least it was a big one.

TOMI “ELMERIXX” BROUK

Tomi “Elmerixx” Brouk might be new to the BBZ Poker coaching team, but he’s been one of the most respected coaches and backers for years, as well as one of the toughest players around.

He proved that once again in 2022 when he added a SCOOP title to his ridiculously impressive resume.

Brouk won a $2,100 buy-in 8-max event for $59,192.

ALEX “PWNDIDI” THEOLOGIS

Alex “pwndidi” Theologis is an absolute beast at the tables and a regular in the highest-stakes tournaments running, with $10.5 million in recorded online cashes and more than $300K in live earnings, despite rarely playing live poker.

No surprise then that the new BBZ coach has a couple of SCOOP titles on the CV too.

2020: $1,050 NLHE, Afternoon Deep Stack – $85,430
2021: $530 NLHE 8-Max, PKO – $100,686

MASON “PYEFACEPOKER” PYE

BBZ Bundle creator and Twitch streamer Mason “pyefacepoker” Pye cemented his position as the leader of the Mixed Games Movement in 2021 when he won his first SCOOP title.

Pye took down a $109 buy-in stud event for $6,729.

“I’ve had many near misses in the past where I’ve fallen just short of a SCOOP final table, including this year in Event 12-M ($109 5-card Draw),” Pye told PokerStars Blog. “It was becoming a meme where I would just bottle all of these big spots, so just getting to the final table was a huge relief.

“However, the fact that I went on to win the whole event was very special to me and a moment that I will not be forgetting for a long time.”

TOBIAS “SENKEL92” LEKNES

Pipping Fintan Hand for the most SCOOP titles among the BBZ crew is one of its newest members: the mixed game crusher Tobias “senkel92” Leknes.

Leknes has a ridiculous four SCOOP titles to go with his nine WCOOP wins (tied for the most ever).

And all four have come in different poker disciplines!

2017: $11 FL Badugi – $3,949
2020: $11 PL 5-Card Draw – $2,522
2020: $215 PLO8, 6-Max – $25,648
2022: $1,050 Stud Hi/Lo – $18,550

Why limit yourself to only no limit hold’em events when you can play tournaments in every variant and increase your chances of success?

You can learn mixed games from Leknes and Pye in the Mixed Games Beginners Bundle.
